I expected the sand to be less grainy and more contained as a lump because of which there is lot of after play mess to clean up as it doesn't stick to itself as mentioned. Apart from that my kids are enjoying the product.Very good quality and grip. Both have nice chiseled and yet non sharp edges which helps a lot. Though a didn't buy it solely for quilling and yes they haven't disappointed at all.
